The Pierides Museum is the first museum of Ancient Cypriot Art in Greece. It’s being housed at the
‘Athinais’ Multi Purpose Conference and Cultural Venue which belongs to the Marilena G. Mamidakis Group of Companies. The museum opened in 2001 and since February 2004 the ‘3200 years of Greek-Cypriot Culture – From Astarti to Aphrodite’ exhibition
The exhibition’s aim is to present the stages of Cyprus’s hellenization through a series of exhibits of Prehistoric, Geometric, Archaic, Classic and Hellenistic times. The exhibits come from the collections of six state museums in Cyprus as well as from the National Archeological Museum in Athens. Most of these are exhibited for the very first time thus giving the viewers the unique opportunity to admire closely these rare treasures.
Educational programs for children of all ages that aim at the creative contact of the children with the ancient civilization of both Cyprus and Greece will take place on a daily basis.
